Interacademic picture-show “Drawing as the basis of painting”
On February 18, 2021 the Interacademic exhibition “Drawing as the basis of painting” was opened in the Pontifical Gallery of the Stieglitz Academy. The exhibition is the part of the creative project “We are different but we are together”.
The exhibition presents author's paintings, demonstrating a high level of artists' proficiency, as well as exhibits copies and replicas of the old masters’ art works, graphics and sketches for paintings.
The exhibition was attended by teachers and graduates of St. Petersburg universities: the Stieglitz Academy, the Ilya Repin Academy of Arts, the University of Industrial Technology and Design.
The curator, Yuri Agafonov, says about the exhibition:
“As per the professional artist, drawing is the most important fundamental basic component of any visual work, whether this be graphics, tapestry, sculpture, ceramic panel or painting. The purpose of this exhibition is to draw attention to the level of drawing in painting, in particular, in higher art education institutions”.
The exhibition “Drawing as the basis of painting” at the Pontifical Gallery of the Stieglitz Academy will run until February 27, 2021.
