Forum «Saint Petersburg Days of Classical Studies» in Stieglitz Academy
On October 29-30, 2020, the Stieglitz Academy hosted the sessions “Ancient art” and “Museum studies” of the International Scientific Forum “The Saint Petersburg Days of Classical Studies” dedicated to Mikhail I. Rostovtzeff’s 150th Anniversary
The reports were presented by domest ic and foreign researchers in the field of history, archeology, art and culture of the ancient world. Experts from Italy, France, Turkey, Cyprus, Greece, Belgium, and Serbia took part in Zoom meetings. The conference program covered a wide range of issues: attribution and interpretation of an individual monument to modern approaches to analysis and exhibition of the antiques.
The sessions were chaired and moderated by I.V. Palaguta, E.N. Dmitrieva, A.A. Trofimova, N.K. Zhizhina, N.A. Nalimov.
The exhibition “Eternal Marbles. Sculpture from Classical Antiquity in Tutorial Practice of the Stieglitz Academy” was opened on October 29 in the Pontifical Gallery of the main building of the Academy and the White Hall of the Museum of Applied Arts within the forum. The exhibition was opened by the rector of the Stieglitz Academy, A.N. Kislitsyna, the head of the department of art history, I.V. Palaguta, the head of the Museum of Applied Arts of the Stieglitz Academy, A.I. Bartenev, the senior researcher in the Department of the Ancient World of the State Hermitage, N.K. Zhizhina, Associate Professor of the Department of General History of Arts, Faculty of History, Lomonosov Moscow State University, T.P. Kishbali.
The exhibition included the best art works of the student and professors of the Stieglitz Academy, related to the theme of Antiquity in art.
